Dogs and Degas apparently do go together. The Detroit Institute of Arts is holding their first-ever animal adoption event.
The event is with the Michigan Humane Society on the DIA’s north lawn on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until all the animals are adopted.
“Meet Your Best Friend at the Museum featuring Kitties and Pitties!” will have 20–25 cats and dogs, including pit bulls and pit bull mixes, up for adoption.
The animals have had all their age-appropriate vaccinations and have been sterilized.
The DIA will also raffle off private tours of its Conservation Services Laboratory, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how the museum’s renowned collection is cared for.
The raffle will also include tickets to the exhibition “Star Wars and the Power of Costume.”
Proceeds will be donated to the Michigan Humane Society in memory of Cathy Sweier, a DIA staff member and avid cat lover, who passed away this year.
