Study Says Millenials Can Buy A Lot More House In Detroit Than In Other Major Cities

Apparently, Millennials are buying fewer homes than almost any other generation in history. While some might assume the reason is that we’re just too busy trying afford authentic pour-over coffees and snug fitting beanies, stocking up on vinyl, and of course managing the perfect balance between office workdays and craft cocktail filled weekend to ever think about silly things like setting, let alone reaching long term financial goals, or even more absurd, buying a home. Believe it or not, th...

Renewable energy is picking up steam in Metro Detroit. Or, in this case, picking up the breeze. The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) will now power its operations with 100% renewable electricity from wind farms. “We continue to look for ways to reduce our ecological footprint and thank ITC for helping us to accomplish that goal,” said DZS Executive Director and CEO Ron Kagan. “Our hope is to inspire others to look to clean, renewable energy sources.” The DZS joins a growing list of compani...

Alpaca Ranch Could Come To Belle Isle, Put Abandoned Golf Course Back To Use

At first, it’s easy to brush the idea of an Alpaca Ranch on Belle Isle off as completely absurd. While the thought of such a move may seem strange, a Detroit couple believes that this is one new idea that deserves a chance. Detroiter David Shock, the creator of the idea of “Alpaca Land Detroit,” thinks Detroit needs more cute. The concept was a response to the family’s personal love of Detroit and alpacas. Shock is no stranger to rehab projects. He and his wife recently purchased an old fact...

The New Gordie Howe Bridge Could Be Taller Than The Renaissance Center

Detroit’s skyline could be redefined. The bridge is slated to be massive, in fact, it will be even taller than the Renaissance Center. One of the proposed designs has the giant structure coming in at around 750 feet tall – the RenCen is about 740 feet. For a sense of perspective, consider that the Ambassador Bridge is about 386 feet tall, making it a baby next to this behemoth. It will also be significantly wider than the Ambassador, boasting six lanes of traffic, compared to the Ambassador’s...
