In the latest report from the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN), they focus on the top in-demand jobs in the Detroit metro area by number of unique job postings in the second quarter of this year. Postings overall are up 2 percent from last quarter.
For purposes of this report, we’re focusing on the Tri-county area of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties (including the city of Detroit). This includes a labor force of about 1.87 million people.
According to the data, the open jobs are in medical, sales and service fields. Here are the top ten, and here is the complete report.

Restaurant managers and the like. 1,701 Postings.
9. Computer Systems Engineers/Architects
Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or information technology network concerns. Perform systems management and integration functions. 1,744 Postings.
8. Managers, All Other
Basically a grab bag of different kinds of managers and supervisors. 2,341 Postings.
7. Customer Service Representatives
Interacts with customers. Places orders. Handles complaints. 2,523 Postings.
6. First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers
Retail managers. 2,549 Postings.
5. Retail Salespersons
Pretty self-explanatory. 3,540 Postings.
4. Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing (Except Technical and Scientific Products)
Sells goods from manufacturers or wholesalers to other businesses or groups of people (B2B sales). 4,219 Postings.
3. Application Software Developers
They make computer programs for a variety of platforms. 5,075 Postings.
2. Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers
Drives trucks and transportation equipment for industrial purposes. 6,383 Postings.
