Daily Detroit pushes Detroit's conversation forward by sharing what to know and where to go in the Detroit region.
Founded in 2014 as a blog, the project evolved over time to include not just where to go around town, but to cover the issues and topics important to our community. The first version was built on the stage at Nancy Whiskey's in Detroit's Corktown. In the between years, we have reached millions of visitors.
Our primary focus is now our daily podcast and newsletter. We have produced nearly 1,400 episodes of the podcast, and have an average of a 4.8 rating across Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
We report and talk about Detroit's news, people, voices, places, things to do, events, food and bar scene, development, culture, history and quirks that make us uniquely Detroit.
Our coverage zone is the tri-county area. That is Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties as well as the city of Detroit. We also are interested in stories in Michigan and those having ties to our region.
We are supported by members on Patreon and local underwriters, which you will see on the bottom of the website. In today's modern digital world, local content needs direct local support to survive. "Going viral" with millions of impressions, we have learned, does not pay for quality work.
If you would like to know more about that, here is a whole editorial on it.
And finally, we believe in Detroit's motto: Speramus meliora; resurget cineribus - We hope for better things; it will arise from the ashes.
