Almost everyone knows about Saturdays at Eastern Market. But did you know that there’s a Tuesday market? And although not as large as Saturday, for me – who does some serious grocery shopping for my family here – Tuesday can be a great option for you.
Farmers come with their trucks filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, meat, eggs, and flowers – with plenty to choose from.
Others like Bring Out The You Jewelry come with hand made goods for sale.
The Tuesday Market began in June and runs through the end of October.
I prefer to come down on Tuesdays even though there are less vendors.
I can still find everything I need, and for a person who dislikes crowds it is perfect.
The Tuesday market is open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. If you work in Greater downtown, it could be a great way to spend your lunch break and knock something off your to-do list.
There is so much more to Eastern Market than just the sheds. There is an entire district with shops.
Germack has been around for what seems like forever, and not only do they have nuts and chocolate, but also a tasty coffeeshop that sells dry goods like spices and pasta as well. Next door is Rocky’s, as well.
DeVries & Co is great, Vivio’s is perfect for a stop for one of those midday drinks (don’t tell anyone) and there’s a seafood market and Cost Plus Wine all on the same block.
Not to mention the tasty Stache International (we’ve written about this before).
There are flowers, too.
And of course, art galleries and a distillery – Meet Detroit City Distillery.
The Tuesday market is open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Eastern Market’s Tuesday Market is located approximately at Russell and Adelaide Streets in Detroit.
