January in Detroit. It’s good drinking weather, but you also want to shake off the cabin fever. Motor City Brew Tours has that figured out with what they call Beercation Adventures.
It’s a chance to travel about the Detroit area and, obviously, get beer.
The first one starts only a week into the new year with the January 7 Brewery Bus Tour.
It takes you to three breweries – Harsons Island Brewing in Marysville, War Water Brewery in St. Clair and Baffin Brewery in St. Clair Shores. You’ll get beer samples, brewery tours and lunch/water/snacks (so you don’t enjoy the beer too much) on this tour. Click here for a ticket.
On January 21 there’s the Bumpers & Brew – Pontiac Automotive History Bus Tour.
It gives you a chance to check out another Michigan industrial city and what it has to offer. You get a history lesson here as you find out more about the oft-forgotten city and how Pontiac was once one of the most important parts of Detroit’s auto industry.
The discussion starts in the 1900s and moves forward, as the story of current and former automotive plants unfolds with each visit. Then comes the advertised beer stop at Pontiac’s new Experimentation Brewing where you get beer and pizza included with the ticket. Click here for a ticket.
The longer trek is on February 11 where on the Brewery Bus Tour you get a chance to sample beer and pizza at three breweries in three cities. The stops are Dark Horse Brewery in Marshall, Bifferhaus Brewing in Jackson, and Jolly Pumpkin (NULL Taphouse) in Dexter. Click here for tickets.
Once the weather starts to heat up (hopefully) there is the Brewery Bus Tour day trip to visit CJ’s Brewing and Kickstand Brewing in Commerce and Drafting Table Brewing in Wixom on March 18. Beer samples, select brewery tours and lunch are included on this tour. Click here for tickets.
Travel to the far corners of metro Detroit, learn a bit of history, and get beer. It’s a shame it isn’t in time for Father’s Day. For now though, beer and travel across the greater Motown area is a great combatant for cold weather blues.
