Fall in Michigan means a lot of things – fancy looking leaves, crisp blue skies, hot apple cider, and of course, Halloween.
And while Halloween can be a fun time for families all across metro Detroit, it also presents the potential for some unsafe conditions in the city itself – historically, a dramatic increase in arson activity.
Back in the 1980s, hundreds of fires would occur during the three day period, and the span of days earned the nickname “Devils Night.” Recently, fire numbers have been very close to the average number of fires in the city on any given night, and city officials would like to keep it that way.
To help combat any possible risks, the annual Angels’ Night street patrol will once again unite neighborhoods to monitor and patrol various areas around the city, and they need your help.
From October 29-31, support the cause by joining thousands of volunteers keeping a watchful eye over the city this year. Individuals and groups can get involved in several ways:
- Watching Their Block
- Patrolling A Neighborhood
- Adopting A Vacant Property
- Patrolling a Trick-or-Treat Route
- Turning On Their Porch Light
