The Detroit Institute of Arts is seeking proposals from the public to help it celebrate the traditions of Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead this fall.
The DIA is teaming with the Mexican Consulate of Detroit on an open call for ofrenda altars. Ofrendas are offerings that honor the life and memory of lost loved ones.
This year’s “Ofrendas” exhibit will take place October 12 through November 11. This is the sixth consecutive year the museum has held Day of the Dead offerings from local artists.
You can submit a proposal here, proposals are due by August 10th.
