Last week we brought you the story of Shu – a woman who is looking to build a village in Highland Park.
Well, it looks like she’s going to get her chance. The Kickstarter campaign ended fully funded on Thursday, with $1,791 extra being raised from 1,511 backers from across the country.
From her thank you update on her Kickstarter page:
This dream of building a safe space for our children and neighbors was born out of the tragedy of my son’s death nine years ago, when I had to decide whether to fall into despair or to rise up to honor Jakobi Ra’s memory by creating peace and love. Today, you all confirmed for me that I made the right decision. Thank you so very much.
The grand total raised was $243,690. If you want more details on the plans, you can go here to our original post and of course, we’ll be following this story at the corner of Avalon and Woodward streets in Highland Park.
