Ready to see the beauty of Belle Isle accented by unique artwork from local and regional artists? Plan to attend the first ever Belle Isle Art Fair on August 6 and 7.
The fair will take place next to the Scott Fountain near the Southern tip of the park and is a great outing for families, art connoisseurs, or people who just want to get out and enjoy the sunshine.
“This is one of the most beautiful locations you can imagine to view artwork – or the city skyline We’re so thrilled to be part of the city’s creative comeback,” said event coordinator Mark Loeb. “We’ve been speaking with artists about locations and Belle Isle kept coming up as the ideal one. The park is so beautiful that they know their work will look stupendous.”
Visitors to the art fair can expect to see multiple mediums of art, including paintings, jewelry, sculpture, and photography.
Best of all, the event is free to attend. Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to art displays, the fair will have food trucks, live acoustic music, and fun hands-on activities.
Visitors who take the bus to Belle Isle or who decide to bike there aren’t required to have a State Park Passport. Visitors who drive to Belle Isle must have a passport. They’re available for purchase at state parks and cost $11. To learn more about a recreation passport, click here. Parking is available next to the fair site, and it’s free.
