In their latest rankings of “A State-by-State Guide to America’s Best Pasta,” released yesterday, the users of the Check-in app Foursquare selected a dish from a popular Corktown Eatery as their number one.
Ottava Via’s Truffle Butter Pasta was ranked at the top, so we gave it a spin.
The dish is straightforward, as many dishes involving truffles are. That’s to allow the truffles to be center stage, in this case in the truffle butter sauce. The mushrooms are a nice touch, with parmigiano reggiano cheese. We didn’t do this, but the waitress said the most popular way people order it is to add garlic shrimp as their protein.
It won’t break the bank either – it’s less than $15 as presented on the menu.
That’s not bad for a nice night out, and a smart move would be to grab the bruschetta as a starter to share ($6). The bread is amazing. As a regular carnivore, this is filling enough that it won’t even miss you’re not eating meat.
Ottava Via also knows what they’re doing with cocktails. Can’t go wrong with a Manhattan (or two).
Ottava Via is at 1400 Michigan Avenue in Detroit. Facebook Page.
