Three nights of fun are ahead at a new wine bar in a cool building that was an old bank.
Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique is having their soft opening this weekend, and there will celebrations for the public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
An 1,100 square foot space that you enter from the back of the building, it adds yet another place to go in the quickly growing West Village area.
Brix is another story of an area resident returning after being in another city start a business.
Co-owner Mikiah Westbrooks knew she ultimately wanted to open a wine bar in her hometown of Detroit, even while she was away working in the marketing industry in New York City.
It won’t be just a bar – eventually, there will be a retail wine component.
The project received support from TechTown Detroit’s SWOT City program and Motor City Match awarded Brix $32,000 in April 2016.
Westbrooks also received support from Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation.
Here are the details on the tastings this weekend.
Thursday, August 17: 4pm-1am: Free wine tasting with Joseph Carr wines along with a limited charcuterie menu.
