Buddy’s Pizza is one of the pantheon of Detroit’s deep dish pizza places. Founded 71 years ago in Detroit at 17125 Conant Street (and the location is still there), the business has spread around the Detroit region like sauce and cheese on, well, pizza.
To celebrate their 71st birthday, Buddy’s is giving away a special edition poster of their original location as well as to one lucky winner, Buddy’s Pizza for a year.
The return of “Buddy’s Pizza Day” brings three contests:
Poster Giveaway – Local artist Paul Adams created a poster that depicts the original 6 Mile location in its heyday, buzzing with people playing bocce and enjoying square pizza. Adams is a Detroit native. You can snag a poster by being one of the first 71 customers at each location on Friday. The artist will be at the original 6 Mile location signing posters from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Buddy’s Pizza Day.
The Year Of Pizza From The “I Want Buddy’s” Contest
Friday through Sunday of this weekend, June 23-25, post a picture of yourself enjoying the original Detroit-style pizza and tag Buddy’s Pizza on Facebook (@buddyspizza) or Instagram (@buddyspizzadet). That’s your entry in a drawing to receive free pizza for a year. Posts must include the caption “I Want Buddy’s.” One lucky fan will be randomly selected and announced on Monday, June 26.
Customer Appreciation Cards
According to a release, Buddy’s Pizza will once again offer customer appreciation cards for a limited time. Beginning on June 23, diners can drop in to any of the family-owned restaurant’s 11 locations to claim their card. Once a month cardholders will be eligible to receive a one-topping, 8-square Detroit-style pizza priced at a discounted rate of $7.10. Additional toppings may be added for 71 cents each. Appreciation cards will be available until June 30, or until supplies run out. No purchase is necessary.
