Taking Michigan’s entry on a list of best places for soft serve ice cream in every state is the Detroit Water Ice Factory, founded by local author and radio host Mitch Albom.
It was created in the model of using business to support charity, much like the “Newman’s Own” line that sends 100% of its post-tax profits to charity. The charity for Detroit Water Ice Factory is S.A.Y. Detroit. They support projects like the S.A.Y. Play Center at Lipke Park, the Detroit Dream Scholarship, and A Time to Help.
The downtown Detroit-based establishment prides itself on Philly-style water ice, but BuzzFeed gave it to marks in Michigan for their Motown Mash soft serve ice cream.
The Motown Mash is layers of chocolate chip cookies, a touch of kahlua, whipped topping and what they call a “secret ingredient.”
Sure BuzzFeed has their opinions, but what’s the best in your opinion? Leave it in the comments.
