Close Encounters of the Third Kind — Friday, Saturday — Redford
On Friday night visit the historic Redford theater for a rare showing of one of the greatest films ever made, Close encounters of the third kind.
This legendary sci-fi adventure about a man and his life-altering encounter with UFOs is full of classic performances and still-impressive special effects.
The movie is rated PG and tickets are just $5, so grab the kids and introduce this classic to the whole. If you miss the Friday showing, you can still catch it on Saturday at 2:00 & 8 p.m.

So Vague at the Whiskey Disco — Friday — Detroit
If a movie isn’t quite your speed, then on Friday, check out So Vague’s performance The Whiskey Disco.
So Vague is squad of versatile Detroit DJs built on great tunes and their uncanny ability to turn out a dance floor. Led by BeatLoaf, Rob Perry, and Rocky Ybarra, the group aims to please with proven party jams laced with their own original productions.
Mekato, the opening act, brings his brand of blissful and melodic house that’s sure to get you feeling some serious feels.
The party is set to kick off at 9 p.m. Cover charge is just $5 and the drinks are always reasonable, so get out and enjoy this talented lineup in a great environment.

Plymouth Ice Festival — Friday — Sunday — Plymouth
If you’re a Michigander who thrives in frigid winter temperatures, then you’ll definitely want to check out the Plymouth Ice Festival. This weekend long event was created to celebrate the season that often gets a bad rap around these parts.
The Festival features over 100 ice sculptures, amazing food, live carving demonstrations, outdoor shopping, winter sports activities and much more — all in the beautiful setting of Downtown Plymouth, MI.
You can view the sculpture collection at any time throughout the weekend, but if you want the full festival experience the doors are open from 3-9 on Friday, 10-9 on Saturday, and 10-6 on Sunday.

Brewery Tour + Pistons Game — Saturday — Royal Oak
On Saturday, join local nonprofit organization Humble Design as they embark on a party epic of brewery tours from Royal Oak to the palace of Auburn Hills.
The event kicks of with registration at MOTOR CITY GAS followed immediately by drinks and a tour at River Rouge Brewing Company.
The fun continues as you head to to another tour and tasting at Axle Brewing Co., where you’ll also enjoy some Dominos Pizza to wash down your beers.
After that, you’re off to the Rochester Mills Beer Co., and finally the Palace for the Pistons game vs the Brooklyn Nets!
Your registration cost includes one lower level Pistons ticket and transportation in a luxury motor coach, which will pick up the group at 325 E 4th St in Royal Oak.

Detroit Mob Confidential — Sunday — Detroit Historical Museum
On Sunday, wind down your weekend with a movie at the Detroit historical museum.
Back by popular demand at the, it’s “Detroit Mob Confidential”, a film that explores the history of Detroit’s La Cosa Nostra Family, one of the most successful crime families in the United States.
In addition to law enforcement and media sources, the film captures former associates of the family reflecting on their work with Detroit Mafia members in both sports gambling and other criminal activities.
Several hundred unique and never-seen-before surveillance photographs from Federal law enforcement are used, as well as family photos of the notorious family.
The showing starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free, so don’t miss this great story about Detroit’s mafia plagued past!
