Here we go, folks – the best things to do in Detroit and nearby. Enjoy!
Hamtramck Disneyland Charity Event – Hatch Art
We covered the work Hatch Art has done to save this unique art instillation located in Hamtramck. Hamtramck Disneyland was the work of Dmytro Szylak a Ukrainian immigrant. The work took Szylak nearly 30 years to complete. After Szylak’s death his masterpiece was in danger of being torn down. Hatch Art stepped in and purchased the property, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done to repair and upgrade the art instillation.
Hatch Art is trying to raise $50,000 by August 20. They currently have a Patronicity page to raise funds, but they are also hosting a charity event this Friday.
The event will be held at the Hatch Art Gallery on Friday July 29, 2016. The event starts at 6:00 PM and will continue until 10:00 PM. There will be a strolling dinner, an open bar, a charity auction, a presentation about the history and future of Hamtramck Disneyland and live music.
Tickets are $50 per person, and can be purchased here. All proceeds will go towards the Patronicity fundraiser.
