The weekend is almost here and luckily for you there are a ton of great options to keep you busy.
Buhl Bar Presents: Nicole New- Detroit
Heading downtown on Friday night for a cocktail but want a change of pace? I suggest going to the Buhl Bar to listen to songstress Nicole New. She will be performing from 8:00 p.m until 10:30 p.m.
The Buhl Bar is usually only open during Happy Hour during the week, so it being open later is a special treat. Not to mention the entertainment is top notch.
There is a $10 entertainment fee that will be added to each bill.
The Buhl Bar is located inside the historic Buhl Building downtown at 535 Griswold Street in Detroit.
Detroit Gatsby Spring Soirée – Detroit
There is still time to get your tickets to the Detroit Gatsby Spring Soirée for this Friday! We did a whole post about the party, so if you haven’t read it yet check it out.
All I can say, is that if you are looking for a swinging 1920’s party, then you need to look no further. This is it.
Tickets are $115 per person. The ticket includes dinner, cocktails, valet, tours of the Detroit Boat Club, and live music. So really, it’s a pretty good deal.
The party begins at 8:00 p.m. and goes until midnight.
The Detroit Boat Club is located on Belle Isle on East Picnic Way.
5th Annual Walk For Justice – Royal Oak
If you are in the mood for a nice morning walk, while doing some good check out the William Booth Walk For Justice this Saturday. The walk will be held at the Detroit Zoo, so you get to have some company.
The walk is organized by the Salvation Army William Booth Legal Aid Clinic which helps Veterans and low income families receive legal aid.
Besides the walk there will be a silent auction, face painting for the kids, a magician, music, and refreshments. Each walker will also receive a Walk For Justice t-shirt.
Registration is still open online, but you can also register in person the morning of the walk. Registration is $40 per person and children 16 and under get in to the walk for free.
The walk kicks off at 8:00 a.m.
The Detroit Zoo is located at 8450 W 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak.
Belle Isle Spring Cleanup – Detroit
Looking to get out and do a little Earth Day clean up? If you’re answer is yes, then you should head to Belle Isle for their annual Spring Cleanup. Help clean up Detroit’s Jewel.
The cleanup is island wide, so they can use all the volunteers they can get. If you do go to help out be sure to bring your own rake and work gloves. The DNR will supply lawn bags, but will have limited rakes and gloves. Feel free to bring along your leave blower if you have it.
Registration is at the Flynn Pavilion and it starts at 8:00 a.m. Cleaning begins at 9:00 a.m. the event will wrap up at 1:00 p.m. with a hot dog lunch.

Designing Detroit Launch Party and Book Signing – Detroit
Do you love architecture and historical buildings like the Guardian? Then you totally need to go to this book launch party on Sunday.
Pure Detroit and Wayne State University Press are hosting a launch party for the new book Designing Detroit: Wirt Rowland and the Rise of Modern American Architecture by architecture historian Michael G. Smith.
Come for the book signing and author talk but stay for the guided tour of the Guardian Building.
The party starts at 1:30 p.m. and will last roughly two hours.
The Guardian Building is located at 500 Griswold Street in Detroit.

Motor City Soul Stomp – Detroit
It’s time to get your dance shoes out again, because the Motor City Soul Stomp is back this month at the Marble Bar.
This month you are all in for a treat because legendary Melvin Davis will be performing. You will be able to catch his set from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
The records will start spinning at 10. Come check out what music Brad Hales, Dan Austin, Erica Aytes, and special guest Bee Hill have picked out for your listening pleasure.
There will be a $10 cover charge between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for the Melvin Davis performance, however after 10:00 there is no cover.
