I don’t know about you, but this week is dragging and flying by at the same time.

MotorCity Wine Recordings #1 Release Party
Over the years MotorCity Wine has become one of the go to spots to check out house and disco DJ’s as well as jazz musicians. MotorCity Wine now has a label to showcase the musicians that perform at that venue.
The first album from MotorCity Wine features tracks from Andy Compton feat. Celestine, Jean-Luc Ponty reedited by Peter Croce, Alton Miller, and Lafleur.
This Friday is the inaugural release party. DJs Jefferson Davidson, Peter Croce, and Lafleur will be spinning on the patio starting at 6 p.m.
At 9 p.m. there will be a jazz set with Kris Kurzawa, Dale Grisa, and Rob Avsharian.
The party starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 12:30 p.m.
There is no set price for cover, just pay what you would like.

Omo Odu’a Afro Beats Afro Eats
Looking for something to do outside on Friday night? Head out to The Villages Biergarten for Omo Odu’a Afro Beats Afro Eats.
The YumVillage food truck has a residency in the West Village and will be providing food from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
DJ Infinite will be performing from 7:30 until 10 p.m.

Viva Las Vegas
I have loved Elvis since I was eight years old. My love affair started when my dad took me to Memphis during summer vacation. Since then I have collected Elvis memorabilia, albums, and movies.
So when I saw that The Senate Theater was showing Viva Las Vegas this weekend I knew I would be adding it to this week’s City 5.
In addition to the organ performance there will also be an Elvis impersonator.

Detroit 67: Perspectives
The Detroit Historical Society has done an excellent job of compiling and researching the summer of 1967 in Detroit. They spent five years compiling research.
To say this is a deep dive into the history of Detroit is an understatement.
This exhibit looks at the social, cultural, economic and political events that happened before the Summer of 1967.
It also looks at the events that have happened in the past 50 years, and reflects on the challenges that we continue to have.
Detroit 67: Perspectives is currently open in the Detroit Historical Museum.
Admission to the museum and exhibit are free, though the organization welcomes donations.
Hours: Friday 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Corktown Strut
If you are in the mood for good foods and a killer music line up then check out the Corktown Strut. This food and music festival is currently going on this week and runs through Monday.
There are 50 musical acts over six stages performing throughout the event. Here is the link to the musical lineup.
If you’re hungry you can find special dishes from twelve Corktown restaurants like Batch Brewing, Red Dunn Kitchen, and Ima.
Tickets range from $20 for Friday only, $30 for two days, or $55 for an all access pass. You can purchase tickets here.
You only need a ticket to the music portion of Corktown Strut. Tickets are not needed to eat at the restaurants.
