Welcome to the official first weekend of spring!
There were so many cool events happening this weeken, that it was pretty hard for me to narrow them down to just five.
Let’s get started, shall we?
So Vague Presents Sweat the Details Ft. ADMN – Detroit
So Vague and Sweat the Details is coming back to The Whiskey Disco this Friday night.
Come hang out and listen to Detroit DJ ADMN.
There is a $5 cover charge all night, and it is a 21 and over event. Hours: 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
The Whiskey Disco is located at 2 John R in Detroit.
Ant Hall Grand Opening/The Detroit Musical opening night – Hamtramck
I’m putting these two events together, because they are both happening at The Ant Hall on the same night.
It’s been a crazy year for Planet Ant. Last year they announced that they purchased the hall across the street from the purple house, and since then they have done a ton of work turning the hall into a theater.
On Friday night they will be hosting the Ant Hall Grand Opening and the opening night for their newest show The Detroit Musical.
Bring your appetite, because Polish Village will be catering this party.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m. Grand Opening Ceremony
8:00 p.m. The Detroit Musical
10:00 p.m. Opening Night Party (w/ cast and crew at new 7 Brothers Bar)
11:00 p.m. The Scrappers and Matt Dmits at Ghost Light
Tickets for the entire party are $10 per person. You can pick up tickets right here.
The Ant Hall is located at 2320 Caniff Avenue in Hamtramck.
(FYI – The Detroit Musical is running through April 24.)
Women Who Empower: Women in Wartime – Detroit
Did you know that March 21 is now officially known as National Rosie the Riveter Day? It honors the 116,000 women who worked to keep up with the demand of the war.
Come out to the Detroit Historical Museum on Saturday, March 25 to celebrate the women who helped during wartime.
There will be educational activities, crafts, and other events happening throughout the day. You can find the times for everything here.
The event is free. Hours: 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The Detroit Historical Museum is located at 5401 Woodward in Detroit.
Marche du Nain Rouge – Detroit
It goes without saying that the Marche would be on this week’s City 5.
We already did a bigger write up of for the Marche, so you can find out all of the particulars over there. I should also mention that there are numerous parties happening to celebrate the Nain Rouge this weekend.
On Saturday, March 25 you can meet Dave Krieger and The Nain Rouge at the Detroit Mercantile. Krieger wrote “”Things I do in Detroit: A guide to the coolest places by the Nain Rouge”. This event is happening between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
After the parade on Sunday head over to Hopcat for their Marche du Nain Rouge party. There will be plenty of Nain Rouge themed food and drinks. The party starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes until Midnight.
All Things Detroit – Detroit
This Sunday is the first All Things Detroit for 2017. Like past ATD events it will be held at Eastern Market.
If you’ve never been to ATD, it is a trade show that highlights entrepreneurs from around the region. There really is something for everyone. There is also a food truck rally for the entire day.
Be sure to stop by some small businesses like Motor City Creations or The Mighty Mitten.
I suggest downloading the All Things Detroit app on your phone. It gives you a ton of information, and it makes finding your favorite shops a lot easier.
You can purchase Beat the Crowd tickets for $15 per person, which will get you inside the show at 10:00 a.m. The early bird ticket also gets you a food and drink voucher and an All Things Detroit tote.
General admission is $5 per person. Children under 12 are free for general admission. However, they will need to have a ticket if you’re going to do the beat the crowd tickets.
Hours: 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Eastern Market is located at 2934 Russell Street in Detroit.
