Discover The D Hometown Tourist Day – Detroit
Have you ever wanted to go on a vacation but can’t decide where you want to go? What about keeping things close to home and taking a little staycation?
The folks at Visit Detroit have put together a tourism fair in Cadillac Square on Friday, May 12. There will be hotels, attractions, museums, and tour groups from around the region to give you information about sticking close to home for your next vacation.
I hear they will be giving away tourism packages during the event, so you might get lucky and win something cool.
Hours: 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Halfway2Halloween Monster Boolesque Spooktacular 2 – Detroit
Do you find yourself upset that it can’t be Halloween everyday? Have a passion for dressing up in costumes even when you don’t necessarily have to? Do you enjoy burlesque? Are you dying to go through a haunted house, but The Haunted Theatre on Mackinac Island is too lame to make that drive?
If you answered yes to any of those three questions then I suggest you make time to go to this event on Friday night.
The Tangent Gallery/ Hastings Street Ballroom will be giving it up to the ghosts and goblins for this event.
Come check out the Halloween performance by burlesque dancers like Lushes Lamoan, Sofia Syntaxx, Magenta DeMure, and Mabel Syrup.
The evening is going to be filled with movies, dancing, a costume contest, murchants, and there will be even be haunted house for you to go through. You can find the schedule for the evening here.
Costumes aren’t necessarily required but heavily encouraged. This is a Halloween party so just dress up as something.
Admission is $10 for those in costumes and $15 without a costume. This is an 18 and over event.

Red Bull Hart Lines – Detroit
If you like to watch people do crazy tricks on skateboards you need to go to Hart Plaza on Saturday for the 3rd Annual Red Bull Hart Lines.
The top professional skateboarders from around the country will be coming to Detroit to ride on two courses set up in Hart Plaza. Each skater will have three passes on the lanes during the contest.
In the past this has been a two day event, however this year it will only be held on Saturday.
Here is the schedule for the day:
10:00 a.m. – Gates Open
11:00 a.m. – 11:30AM – Shop Best Trick
11:30 a.m. – 1:00PM – Pro Practice
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Pro Qualifiers
3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Finals + Awards
Come and go as you please since this event is free.

Made in Michigan Show – Mt. Clemens
Still need that last minute Mother’s Day gift, why not head out to downtown Mt. Clemens to the Made in Michigan Show this Friday or Saturday.
There will be over 60 vendors selling things they have grown or manufactured in Michigan.
There is no admission to get in.
Hours: Friday 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Detroit Wick’s Mother’s Day Pour – Detroit
Does your mom or wife like candles? Has she ever been interested in making her own candle but wasn’t sure where to start?
Why not sign up for a special Mother’s Day event at Detroit Wick? You will get to learn how to make candles with people who make some beautiful candles.
Did I mention there will also be some delicious food to eat? I’m talking crepes, pastries, parfait station, charcuterie board, sandwiches, mini chicken and waffles, mimosa bar and Germack pour over tea and coffee. The food alone makes me want to come.
This is on the more pricey side, but she’s your mom (or wife) and she is worth it. You are why she pees when she sneezes…just saying.
A single ticket for the event is $95, however if there are two of you attending it is $150 for both of you.
There are four seatings between Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m- 1:30 p.m and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m)
