There is no lack of holiday festivities happening between now and the New Year.
But I’m going to propose that you should make time if you can on Saturday, December 9 as I have just the event for you in one of Detroit’s most storied neighborhoods.
The Corktown Business Association (CBA) will be throwing the 2nd Annual Corktown-A-Glow holiday celebration.
The free community event will give people an opportunity to join in caroling, shop and dine around Corktown, roast marshmallows at The Farmers Hand, drink hot chocolate at Mudgie’s Deli.
There is a pretty great set of Corktown businesses participating in the event like Brooklyn Street Local, Detroit Barber Co., Eldorado General Store, George Gregory, The Farmer’s Hand, Hello Records, Mama Coo’s Boutique, Nero’s Bar & Grill, The Ponyride Holiday Makers Market, and Takoi.
Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to get pictures with Santa when he rolls up in his sleigh at 5:00 p.m.
You’re going to want to stay until 6:00 p.m. because there will be a tree lighting ceremony on the corner of Bagley and Trumbull.
Because giving is always better than receiving the CBA will also be collecting new, unwrapped toys, gloves and socks for families in need. They will be given to the Detroit Police Department to be distributed.
Corktown-A-Glow starts at 12:00 p.m. and will end at 7:00 p.m.
Just a tip, park your car and take the complimentary shuttle that will take you throughout Corktown.
