The street band festival Crash Detroit will be here before we know it. This is the forth year of the festival and each year it continues to get bigger and better.
The two day festival is organized by the musicians in the Detroit Party Marching Band and members of the community.
Crash Detroit brings local and national street bands to Detroit to perform. If you have never had the pleasure of seeing a live performance from one of these roving bands you are missing out.
On the evening of Friday, July 21 attending bands will rove the city and throw surprise performances at local bars, business, and public spaces. While the performances are impromptu there will be hints released the day of as to where the locations will be. If you hate being surprised then follow Crash Detroit on Facebook or Twitter.
The main portion of the festival will be held at The Lincoln Street Art Park on Saturday, July 22. Bands will perform throughout the day starting at 2:00 p.m.
There is no schedule of performances yet, but once they put it up we will share that information.
There will be an area where kids and adults will be able to make their own DIY instrument. This year the Youth Crash Corps will hold host the DIY instrument parades throughout the day.
There will be food and drinks available for purchase if you get hungry.
The party will move from the Lincoln Street Art Park to the Marble Bar at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night. This portion of the party will require a ticket. The money raised from Saturday night will go towards Crash Detroit becoming a non-profit organization.
While we’re here I should mention that there is currently a fundraiser going on to help raise money for Crash Detroit. It takes money to put on a good party, especially one that is free.
