If you’ve ever said “I really need a massage, I just don’t have time for it,” this service might be perfect for you.
Soothe, an on-demand massage service and app, plans to launch in our area on January 12.
All you have to do is download and use the Soothe app on iPhone or Android or call the toll free number and a vetted, certified massage therapist will be to your home, office, or hotel room — often within an hour.
You can get massages at almost any time of day, between the hours of 8 a.m. and midnight, and every night of the week.
You can decide the type of massage from deep tissue, Swedish, sports, and prenatal. You can also request a couples massage.
Customers can decide between a male or female massage therapist, and if you find one that you like you can request them for future appointments.
“We’re pleased to serve the residents of Detroit and its visitors,” says Soothe’s Founder and CEO Merlin Kauffman. “Everyone deserves to have a massage after a long day at the office or while on vacation, either as a gift to oneself or another.”
According to the company, Kauffman created Soothe in 2013 while at Harvard Business School. He was frequently traveling and found it difficult to schedule a massage appointment outside standard business hours. What started as a solution to his own problem now has turned into a business, with the number of certified massage therapists on the platform having tripled since last year up to 8,000 nationally.
If you’re wondering how much money this will cost, here is the breakdown. Massages are fixed-priced per person, but tax and gratuity have been added into the price. The prices are: $99 (60 minutes), $139 (90 minutes), and $169 (120 minutes).
The service will be available throughout metro Detroit, and they anticipate expanding the coverage once they fully launch in January.
Soothe was founded in 2013 and has expanded into 51 cities throughout the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.
