Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3), a Detroit-based IT and business services company, is the new title sponsor of Detroit’s annual Turkey Trot.
This year’s Thanksgiving morning run will be officially known as The 33rd Annual Strategic Staffing Solutions Turkey Trot.
“We are excited to continue to grow our partnership with S3, a Detroit-based company committed to our community and region,” said Parade Company President and CEO Tony Michaels. “This is a wonderful new chapter in Turkey Trot history, a race that has become a beloved tradition for Detroiters on Thanksgiving morning.”
The Turkey Trot is one of the nation’s largest Thanksgiving morning runs. The event includes both 10k and 5k runs. There’s also a “Mashed Potato Mile” for people who prefer a light workout before their Thanksgiving feast.
The Turkey Trot has come a long way since its inception. In 1983, the Trot’s second year, there were 2,300 participants. By 2012, that number had swelled to 21,000.
The race has been ranked among the nation’s best of its kid, and it’s attracted high-profile runners. Two Olympians have participated in and won the Turkey Trot. Olympian and Detroit native Todd Williams won the event in 1989. Olympian Brian Sell won the event in 2001.
S3 has been the title sponsor of the Turkey Trot 5k run since 2012, and the company is looking forward to its first time as title sponsor for the event.
“We are proud to be a part of this iconic and fun family event,” said Cindy Pasky, president and CEO. “As a company dedicated to bringing the community together, it is thrilling to see a record number of runners participate and enjoy this Detroit event each year.”
Registration for the 33rd Annual Strategic Staffing Solutions Turkey Trot will open at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1 at www.theparade.org
