The popular board game Monopoly Here & Now just got a little closer to home for Detroiters. Our city has secured a spot on the game’s board!
Monopoly lovers around the world voted and named Detroit as one of the cities to grace the Monopoly Here & Now board. More than four million votes from 182 countries went through the BuzzFeed.com/VoteMonopoly website, and Detroit emerged a winner.
It seems that the rest of the nation, and the world for that matter, has finally realized what Detroiters knew all along – Detroit rocks, and it deserves some recognition.
We’re getting a spot in the red, next to Boston and Milwaukee – you can check out a full preview of the square below.
What are you waiting for? Celebrate World Monopoly Day, Monopoly’s 80th birthday, and Detroit’s addition to the board by brushing up on your Monopoly skills. You’ll need all the practice you can get before the new Monopoly Here & Now board hits stores.
