Want to try your hand at building your own kite? Check out the Will It Fly? Tent, where guests can tinker, play and invent new kites.
Kids of all ages will have a chance to learn more about kites in the Book Nook.
There will be plenty of entertainment this year for the festival.
The Windjammers Kite Team will return for the second year to perform their synchronized kite show. The Michigan Philharmonic have also signed on to be a partner for the festival and they will perform.
“We are so excited to bring back the Detroit Kite Festival after a wildly successful first time. Kites are a platform to bring Detroiters together, celebrate history and culture, and to engage with others,” said Margo Dalal the Director of the Detroit Kite Festival. “We are grateful to have such a supportive community and willing partners to make this the collaborative festival that it is.”
The Detroit Kite Festival is free to those who attend, however just remember that you will need a Recreation Passport to get onto Belle Isle.
The festival will take place at the Belle Isle Cricket Field, which is right next to the Belle Isle Casino. There is a parking lot next to the field.
