A local ministry is celebrating Good Friday with a fuel & oil change giveaway that organizers expect will serve more than 500 people.
Detroit’s New Life Family Church is holding their second annual $10K Gas Giveaway on Friday, April 14, or Good Friday.
According to a release, New Life will provide free gas at the BP Gas Station, 4125 8 Mile Road and added new for this year, free oil changes at City Oil Change, 18200 Livernois in Detroit.
“Our ministry is postured to celebrate Jesus just as many other churches will this week, but we wanted to make sure that we demonstrated him as well. Our annual $10K Gas Giveaway is just one of the many great things we are blessed to do,” said Pastor Welton T. Smith IV. “Our ministry is full of young adults who love Detroit and are always willing to do what it takes to love on their own. Emulating our love for Christ, we proudly blame Jesus for doing what we do.”
New Life Family Church was founded by Welton in 2007. Sunday services for the church are on Curtis Street in the Bagley neighborhood of the city.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, but organizers say those who want to participate should arrive at early at their respective location. The gas and oil changes will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. We’ve included maps to both below.
