Social media in Detroit is active with retweets and shares of a tweet and retweet from last night by the popular Midtown nightclub Populux that shared anti-Black Lives Matter, anti-Obama and anti-liberal sentiments as well as retweeted former congressman Joe Walsh who recently said in a deleted tweet that “This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you.”

The Populux Facebook page is getting a rush of 1-star reviews in the aftermath, and some artists are saying they won’t play there anymore, as well as there’s a #boycottpopulux hashtag on Twitter with more than 50 tweets including local artists like Shigeto.
Just want to say fuck @PopuluxDetroit for RTing Joe Walsh. A club that makes its money off of Black artists. Never playing there again.

For their part, Populux says that their account was hacked in a post this morning to their Facebook page.
The Populux dance club replaced the Magic Stick last year in the Majestic Entertainment Complex on Woodward in Midtown.
