If you like dining around Detroit now is the time to do it, because Detroit Restaurant Week starts today. Detroit Restaurant Week will run Friday, February 3 until Sunday, February 12.

Last month we gave you all a heads up that DRW would be back in February. We didn’t know much information about what restaurants would be involved, but now we do.

This year there is a small change as there are five restaurants that are offering a three course meal for $29, whereas there are twenty-one restaurants that are offering a three course meal for $39.

I like to think of myself as a DRW veteran, so here are some of my tips.

My first step is to look at all of the menus and figure out my top five places. My husband does the same thing and afterwards we see if we have any overlap.

Our next step is to see if there are any reservations open for the night we want to go out. A majority of the restaurants offer reservations on OpenTable. If they are not listed call the restaurant directly.

You want to get your reservations as soon as possible, because places do get booked up. Especially during the weekend.

I don’t want to get on a soap box here, but just remember to be nice to your waitstaff. They are going to be crazy busy this week with these special menus. Most importantly don’t forget to tip well.

These are my top five picks for this round of DRW: The Block, Craft Work, El Barzon, Rattlesnake, and Roast.
