Detroit Vegan Soul is again in the news today as it gets the number one spot on a list of best vegan soul food restaurants across the country according to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
“Thanks to Detroit Vegan Soul, diners can enjoy all the lip-smacking flavor of classic soul food—minus the cruelty and cholesterol,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Remain. “PETA is calling on soul food lovers everywhere to satisfy their cravings with a hearty and heart-healthy vegan dish today.”
The list is made up of the top 16 restaurants in cities like Chicago, Washington DC, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Harlem.
The West Village restaurant owned by Kirsten Ussery-Boyd and Erika Boyd has been serving up vegan soul food since 2013. Earlier this summer they announced a second location in the Grandmont Rosedale Neighborhood.
This is not the first time that Detroit has landed on a list from PETA. This spring Detroit was named the number four city for vegan friendly restaurants in the country.
