More plaudits and praise for a popular pie shop.
Sister Pie, located in the West Village neighborhood of Detroit, started out with humble enough beginning – a woman with an audacious pie-making dream and focus to make it happen, raising multiple rounds of local funding (including with a dance party).
Well, that sweat equity is turning into sweet success. The shop that opened last year has been nominated by Bon Appetit as one of the top 50 best new restaurants in America, with the announcement of the top ten on August 16, when the September issue of the magazine is on stands and online.
Per Bon Appetit:
“Julia (Kramer) and I searched for one-of-a-kind places that can’t be replicated,” Bon Appétit’s deputy editor Andrew Knowlton says. “We love restaurants that are driven by passionate people with distinct points of view. These places aren’t cookie-cutter. They’re absolutely authentic to the cities where they’re based. We want to recognize restaurants that showcase hard work, genuine hospitality, and delicious food.”
