Running or walking a 5K is pretty cool, especially for beginning marathon enthusiasts or families. But why settle for pretty cool when you can have creepy, horrifying, or even downright nightmarish (in a family-friendly way)?
If those sound like adjectives you’d love to use to describe your next 5K, Belleville’s Zombie 5K Run/Walk is the race for you.
The race will be held Saturday, October 17. Registration check-in starts at 9 a.m., and the race starts at 10 a.m. On-site registration is available the day of the race, but you can beat the rush by registering online. There are several registration options, ranging from individual (which costs $25) to student to family/team (which costs $75), so pick which one works for you and go for it.
The run starts and finishes at Horizon Park, located between Main St and Church St in Belleville, MI, 48111. Runners check in at the Horizon Park Gazebo and return there at the end of the run.
Runners will be given two pieces of caution tape to attach to their waists. During the run, zombies will try to steal the tape. Runners who cross the finish line with their tape still attached have successfully outrun the horde.
Runners are encouraged to wear costumes, but they’re not required. The zombies will chase you regardless of whether you’re dressed as you or Mickey Mouse. However, there will be a contest for the scariest costume and for the most festive costume.
Can you outrun the horde? Find out Saturday, October 17 at Horizon Park in Belleville.
