Detroit’s buzzing about the first national casual dining chain opening outside of the Central Business District.
The new Applebee’s will be at 8 Mile and Woodward at 2111 Eight Mile Road and it will open on Monday, October 26.
As part of the grand opening, the chain operators Team Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), will host a one-day “Dine to Donate” event to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
We first told you about this a couple of months ago, and peak riblet basket is apparently almost upon us, along with a collaboration with local brewer Atwater for a special beer “with hints of caramel and not too hoppy.”
Construction of the 5,815-square-foot restaurant began in June. The restaurant will feature the brand’s new and improved layout designed to elevate the dining experience for guests, including high-rise ceilings, an expanded bar area, more televisions and larger windows to provide more natural light, as well as décor and painted murals specific to the City of Detroit community.
The location will be comprised of more than 100 salary and hourly-level employees.
To celebrate the grand opening, TSFR will donate 10% of all guests’ food sales from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the City of Detroit Applebee’s to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
If you look at the coverage pretty much everywhere in Detroit media about this new location, it seems folks are pretty hyped. If only Detroit Pistons announcer John Mason were announcing the opening.. “Deeeeeeetroit Basket-ball” also easily fits with “Deeeeeeetroit Apple-bee’s.”
