When I was younger I always dreamed that I could be a Broadway star. Obviously that didn’t happen. I have two left feet, and the only singing I do in public is at karaoke. But my love of musicals and theatre has never wavered.
Of course I love seeing the big musical productions that come to big venues the Fisher Theatre, but I also enjoy going to community theatre shows. They’re a great deal and a lot of fun.
The Detroit Actor’s Theatre Company will be performing their fourth annual production of Follies: A Broadway Revue for two weekends in the beginning of 2017.
The show will be performed at the former St. Columba Church on the east side.
The review will feature songs from Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Les Miserables, and Guys and Dolls just to name a few of the musical highlights.
The DATC was established in 2011 by co-founders Michael Johns and Eric Swanson. I’m particularly looking forward to the spring production of Jesus Christ Superstar as well.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for seniors and students.
You have four chances to see the show. The show will be performed on January 27-28 and February 3 and 4. Doors open at 7:30 p.m and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.
St. Columba Church is located at 1021 Manistique Street Detroit, Michigan 48215.
