In Thifty news, The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store and Donation Center at on Ten Mile near Van Dyke in Centerline will close on Friday, May 11 and reopen on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
They’re moving to a new building about 1,000 feet away at 25152 Van Dyke Road.
There will be a ribbon cutting that the public is invited to attend… and we’re putting it on your radar for the free food.
Following the ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 12, the Salvation Army ARC will provide donuts and coffee until 11 a.m.
Then Captain Jay’s will begin giving out free chicken, fish and french fries.
Also, the Grand Opening will feature new furniture donations from Gardner White. Later in the day, there will be a bake sale.
This store shuffle down the road is part of a wider effort by The Salvation Arm that will invest $2 million into the 37 Family Thrift Store locations in the metro Detroit area.
Proceeds from the stores benefit The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation program for adults.
