The Detroit River Days are right around the corner. This is the 10th year of the Detroit Riverfront Conservatory festival located along the riverfront.

This year the festival will be held June 24 through June 26 from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. The admission to get into the festival is $3 before 3pm and $5 after 3pm to support the non-profit Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.  GM River Days is free to enter on Friday between 11am-5pm.

As with past years the festival will have numerous musical acts, this year is no exception. Over 40 acts will perform over four stages. The headlining acts this year are The B-52’s, Patti LaBelle and Mint Condition.

The big announcement is the addition of Laith Al-Saadi to this year’s lineup. Al-Saadi an Ann Arbor native caught national attention when he was a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice”. He finished in fourth place. He will be performing on Friday at 7:00 pm on the Quicken Loans National Stage.

The concerts are free, however there are VIP premier seats for the headlining acts. Tickets are $35 and proceeds go to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Tickets are limited, and are going to sell out fast. You can purchase them here.

Besides the great musical performances there will be numerous things for people to do.

If you have small children the Flagstar Bank Kids Zone will be perfect for little ones. There is a special kids stage that will have music, story time, and magic shows, and demonstrations from the Michigan Science Center. There will also be a mural celebrating 10 years of the River Days that children can color. The Parade Company will throw a 10-year celebration parade each day at 2:00 pm. The Kids Zone will be located at Rivard Plaza. All of the activities in Kid Zone are free and adults can pick up a sticker for entry at the Flagstar Bank booth.

The zip line will be returning this year. Thrill seekers can soar through the air at 34 feet above the riverfront and get an aerial view of the festival. The zip line will be located between St. Antoine and Beaubien Street. Tickets are one ride for $15 or two rides for $25.

The Tuskegee Airmen will be performing over the Detroit River three times during the festival. The schedule will be 1:00 pm on Friday, and 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Each music stage will have an emcee for the airshow.

If ships are more your speed you have a few options for tours.

The United States Coast Guard Cutter will be docked at the GM Plaza. Festival goers can tour the USCGC Mobile Bay each day from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. The Mobile Bay travels around the Great Lakes breaking the ice in the winter.

The Appledore IV Tall Ship will be docked at the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority. You can take tours of the ship.

Diamond Jack River Tours will be offering one-hour river tours. The Diamond Jack boat tours will be located at the Rivard Plaza. Tickets are $10 for adults/seniors and $5 for children. Children five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased on the boat and is cash only.

Of course this is just a highlight of everything that is happening during River Days. You can find out more information on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy website. There is a host of information for people interested in going to the festival; like the best places to park, and what you can an cannot bring.

We’ve attached the music line up for all three days for all four stages. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
