Happy 313 Day!
Jer here. I know that Detroit's official birthday is July 24, but it seems in recent years the events and energy has been around March 13 — 3/13 — as a welcome ramp-up to the warm season.
Beyond our sold-out 313 Day Trivia and Podcast live show at Tocororo tonight, there are a ton of events happening. This list over at the Detroit News will get you set up in case you're looking for something last-minute.

🍴 Takitos AF is new in the Detroit Shipping Company in Detroit's Midtown. They have spots now here in the Motor City and in Lansing. [Website]
Engineer Randy checked it out this week, and sent in his quick thoughts:

Super crunchy corn tortillas, good fillings—pork al pastor was my favorite but the ground beef picadillo was no slouch. The chicken was fine, but not as good as the other two.

Guacamole was wonderfully seasoned with both salt and acid. Tortilla chips were warm and the portion was more than ample. Elote was rich and creamy but could have used a bit of salt.
You'll find it inside the Detroit Shipping Company at 474 Peterboro in Detroit.

🍗 I don't have an exact date of closure, but Vicki's Bar B Q — open since 1964 — is done. It was on West Warren in Detroit. Their last social media post was 18 weeks ago, and now their website confirms it, saying "thank you for all the great memories."

Detroit St. Patrick's Day Parade: Expect floats, marching bands, and a sea of green. Running for nearly 70 years, this is a classic Detroit St. Patrick's Day experience on Michigan Avenue in Detroit's Corktown. It'll be on Sunday, 3/16 and steps off at 1pm. [Website]
Thanks so much reading! Cutting this note a bit short as I've gotta go get ready for Tocororo. Thanks to Luciano Marcon for helping out with this one and thanks to our members on Patreon for supporting us.
Remember that you are somebody, and I'll see you around Detroit.
