The old DTE power plant at Conners Creek – once known as the “Two Brothers” or the “Seven Sisters” – is about to be the site of an art installation.
Steve and Dorota Coy, known as the Hygienic Dress League, are presenting an exhibition called “Value Proposition” on October 18 through 20, from 6: to 10:00 p.m. each night.
The space around the decommissioned plant will come alive with a giant lighted diamond, a forest of glowing human bodies with deer heads, and a 600-pound life-size elephant studded with more than 350,000 rhinestones.
The message behind the exhibition is that although water is more useful than diamonds in regards to survival, diamonds are more valuable in the free market.
The 75-acre site is being eyed for redevelopment.
