THE LOWDOWN: Detroit’s hiring market is an interesting place. Sometimes it’s up — sometimes it’s down — but it’s always good to be out there and meet with actual people instead of throwing a bucket of resumes down a digital void with no response.
A rare opportunity to network in person and meet folks when it comes to your job search will be at the 18th IT in the D Pink Slip Party on March 10. The event will be held at the Majestic Theatre in midtown — and the event is free (but parking, if you use the Majestic lot, is $5).
What’s different, having attended these events before, is that you won’t be put in a cattle call line, or show up just to get a derpy card to go visit a company website. There will be actual recruiters and hiring managers wanting to get to know you.
Bring a business card, but not your resume as you’ll need to dust off some of those ever-important “soft skills.” But, there will be food and beer available. Which helps with those.
DEETS: Be there on March 10 starting at 5:01 p.m. and running for a few hours. The venue is The Majestic Theater, 4120 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.
