It’s not too often places make it more than three decades.
But for the last 31 years, Moose Winooski’s has been the saloon for many near 14 Mile and Main in the Oakland County suburb of Clawson.
Owner Larry Johnson sold it and it closed last week. Apparently it will reopen after renovation with a new name and format.
“The Moose” was the kind of bar that served burgers and kept prices low. At one point it was named one of Michigan’s best neighborhood bars.
Clawson’s dining and drinking scene will keep humming along.
It’s a small, quaint downtown, and nearby you’ll find the Woodpile BBQ Shack (in a former A&W), Zeoli’s Italian, Black Lotus, Noble Fish and others.
