The word about Detroit is getting out, and events like Live.Work.Detroit hope to get the word out even farther. The invitation is out to college students and recent graduates from around Michigan and beyond to come to this career networking event taking place on Friday, Feb. 27 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Majestic Theater in Detroit.

Founded in 2011, Live.Work.Detroit. is an Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) initiative designed to connect Michigan’s college graduates to Detroit job opportunities and promote the city of Detroit as a preferred post-graduation location to land. More than 4,000 college students have participated in Live.Work.Detroit events.

Some big names are going to be there looking for talent, such as General Motors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Quicken Loans, and Challenge Detroit, among others.

“Many college graduates from around Michigan look to Chicago or New York after graduation without knowing what Detroit can offer them,” says Jon Chezick, Director of Tour Operations at DXF. “Once they see firsthand that there are tons of entertainment options, amazing residential spaces and a one-of-a-kind sense of community, it’s amazing how quickly Detroit becomes an option for them.”

Keynoting the event is Jason Hall, Co-Founder of the famous “Slow Roll” that draws thousands downtown on warm Monday nights and Detroit Bike City. Also there will be a panel discussion with some of Detroit’s young leaders, networking, and a tour of some of the exciting small businesses, restaurants, museums, and places to live.

The event is $15 and registration is required. The registration fee covers all activities including bus transportation from University of Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Wayne State and Oakland University as well as dinner and the interactive tour of the city. Whether you’re looking to participate as an attendee or company that has openings to showcase, more can be found at www.weknowdetroit.org/lwd.
