There’s only one city in metro Detroit — and it’s the only city in the state of Michigan — to make a spot on a recent list of the “America’s 50 Best Cities To Live.”
The Oakland County suburb of Rochester Hills took the 14th spot out of 50 in the piece by 24/7 Wall Street.
Some of the benefits cited by 24/7 Wall Street:
- It’s both in bottom 10 percent of households in poverty and the top 10 percent of people with bachelor’s degrees
- There were 72 violent crimes reported per 100,000 residents in 2016, a fraction of the national violent crime rate of 386 incidents reported per 100,000 Americans.
- Homes in Rochester Hills have continued to gain value. According to 24/7 Wall Street, the typical home in the city is worth $294,200 today, an increase of $15,000 from 10 years ago and roughly $90,000 more than the U.S. median home value.
The best city to live in America? They say it’s Carmel, Indiana.
