Bicycling is a pretty big business in the city of Detroit. There are numerous cycling shops popping up throughout the city. This week a new pop up shop will open on the east side of Detroit.
Metropolis Cycles, with their first location in Corktown, will be opening a second location soon. While the work on the new storefront on the east side is being finished, they have decided to open a pop up shop in the West Village neighborhood.
“We opened Metropolis Cycles because we wanted to be able to provide high-level service and bike sales in a professional and accessible environment,” says Shayne O’Keefe, Metropolis Cycles co-owner. “With Detroit uniquely positioned as the nation’s largest expanding cycling market, we are happy to be able to provide our same high-level of service and products in a new location more convenient to our Eastside riders.
The full-service bicycle shop will carry new and used bicycles. They will also offer repairs and bicycle maintenance.
The Metropolis Cycles East pop up shop will officially open on Saturday, March 11, and will stay open until the permanent store is ready.
The pop up shop will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
If you are looking for something to do on Friday, March 10, there will be an opening party at the pop up shop.
The party starts at 7:00 p.m. and will go until 10:00 p.m. There will be snacks and refreshments from Craft Work. There will also be local DJs spinning tunes.
The Metropolis Cycles East pop up will be located at 8044 Kercheval in Detroit.
