The Michigan Science Center and Toyota Motor North America has just unveiled the new Toyota 4D Engineering Theater (TET) inside the Michigan Science Center.
The goal of the theater is to inspire kids in the subjects of of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The TET theater will provide programs and films to help show how the world of STEM can be interesting and fun.
Toyota Motor North America donated $1.44 million toward this new theater.
“We’re thrilled to be a partner with the Michigan Science Center and help them nurture future innovators,” said group vice president of Toyota Motor North America Research and Development Jeff Makarewicz. “Toyota is committed to playing a role in building the future STEM workforce. Exposing children to engaging STEM experiences like those in the TET are critical in fostering innovative thinking.”
The TET will offer a four-dimensional experience that will engage all of these senses. The theater will offer 3D viewing capabilities, with enhanced space and lighting for a greater immersive experience.
The Michigan Science Center will also be developing new programming and education initiatives for both teachers and students that will be in conjunction with the TET. These programs will be able to be given remotely throughout Michigan.
The grand opening of the TET will be Saturday, May 27 and to celebrate, the Michigan Science Center will be offering free general admission and tickets to the TET for the entire weekend.
The TET will be debuting the National Geographic film “Extreme Weather 4D.” This film was produced exclusively for the Michigan Science Center.
Hours: Wednesday through Friday 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
