Books and ghosts – and ghost stories – go amazingly well together.
It’s time to start making plans for the end of October. I know it seems silly to say, but with Halloween falling on a Monday the last weekend of the month will be filled with tons of fun things to do.
We have a fun out of the box event for you to attend.
The Main Branch of the Detroit Library will be hosting a night time library tour on October 28.
The main library is filled with all types of interesting stories, and I’m not just talking about all of the books.
Docents will lead small groups through the library, showing them their favorite parts of the library. Get ready to see some great nooks and crannies, all while learning about the history of the library that was opened in 1921.
Tour goers will also have the opportunity to go out onto the Loggia (as long as the weather cooperates.) Did you know that the Loggia has seven mosaics in the celling that were created by Mary Chase Stratton and Horace Caulkins of Pewabic Pottery?
Bring your cameras because there will be so many great photo opportunities. They also say that there will be a lot of fun surprises throughout the night.
The guided tour will last an hour. After the tour guests will be able to enjoy a Ghostbuster themed happy hour.
Tickets for the tour and happy hour are $25 per person. If you are only interested in the happy hour tickets are $12 per person. You must purchase tickets before the event. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
The event starts at 6:30 PM and goes until 9:00 PM.
The Main Branch of the Detroit Library is located at 5201 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48202.
