Wayne County Executive Warren Evans unveiled a new plan today to improve regional transit. 25 Detroit Businesses Get Grants To Improve Their Street Appeal Through Motor City Re-Store

25 Detroit business are getting $300,000 in matching grants to improve the street appeal and exteriors of their businesses. Motor City Re-Store, a program started last year by the city of Detroit and the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, awarded the grants Thursday. A matching grant means that businesses will have to put in an equivalent amount of their own money. Grants are awarded for both design and construction. Former Rogell Golf Course In Detroit Could See A New Chapter

The site of the former Rogell Golf Course might get a new life, but not as a golf course. The City of Detroit’s Housing and Revitalization Department has requested to buy the 120-acre piece of land at Lahser and Seven Mile Road in northwest Detroit. If the City Council approves the sale, the City would purchase the land for about $1.9 million using money from a federal grant.
