Are you looking for a free family friendly event for the weekend? The People of Palmer Park will be hosting their annual Harvest Festival this Saturday, October 22 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

This Saturday afternoon will be filled with a ton of great activities for all ages.

There will be a petting zoo and a Barnyard Express show courtesy of Farmer John. There will also be an arts and craft tent where you can make nature crowns and decorate mini-pumpkins. There will be contests and games to play like tug of war and sack races. There will also be hayrides through the woods.

It’s time to celebrate the harvest with apple tasting, grilled corn, and pumpkin picking. There will be a special squash display showing off the bounty of pumpkins and squash that grow throughout Michigan. The first 500 people to arrive to the Harvest Festival will receive free apple cider and donut holes.

This is also a chance for kids and adults to learn about where our food comes from and how animals live on the farm.

People for Palmer Park have also been working to revitalize Lake Frances thanks to The Kresge Foundation. They are partnering with the landscape architecture firm Conservation Design Forum. You can find out about the revitalization at the Harvest Festival as well.

Food will be available for purchase if you get hungry.  The Nosh Pit Detroit food truck and Mason Jar will be at the festival. If a good old fashioned picnic sounds better you can bring that as well.

Head over towards the Palmer Park Splash Park and new playground to find the Harvest Festival.  Both are located along Merrill Plaisance near Pontchartrain, between McNichols and Seven Mile Roads, west of Woodward Avenue. Parking is available at the Splash Park parking lot.
