Pewabic Pottery, in partnership with General Motors, has released a new collectable tile that features the classic Chevrolet Corvette logo designed by Robert Bartholomew in 1953.
The first Corvette and its inaugural logo debuted to the public at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria hotel that same year. The vehicle and classic logo recently celebrated their sixty-second anniversary on June 30.
The new Corvette Tile is a celebration of the iconic Corvette brand as a symbol of Americana and of Detroit’s storied history with the automotive industry.
“Our collaboration with GM represents the positive collaborations happening across Detroit,” said Christina Devlin, Pewabic’s Senior Director of Product Development & Operations. “As a business with a 112 year legacy making ceramic goods in Detroit, Pewabic is very proud to partner with another company deeply rooted in Michigan.”
The classic Corvette logo is pressed in Pewabic’s signature clay body as a four inch round tile. The tile comes in a two-tone design with a matte black glaze and natural clay body. It is officially licensed by GM and includes an “Officially Licensed Product” label.
The tile is available for purchase only through Pewabic, and at just $50, it’s a great way to show your Detroit pride while supporting a staple of the Detroit art community.
