Metro Detroit is getting a new entrant to the sandwich market. Primanti Brothers Restaurant and Bar opening of their 35th location in Taylor on August 3.
Primanti is known for sandwiches that are stuffed with fries. Their signature is meat of your choice, provolone cheese, house-made cole slaw, tomatoes, “secret sauce” and fresh cut fries on fresh Italian bread.
They’re going to have what they call a “Celebration Tailgate” beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3. The first 100 tailgaters celebrating will be given early entry to the restaurant at noon.
Early tailgaters can expect samples of Primanti’s food, beverages, games and a parking lot DJ. In addition to being one of the first customers through the door, tailgaters also become lifetime members of the Taylor 100 Club – an honor that means a year’s supply of free sandwiches at Primanti’s newest location.
After that, Primanti Bros. will close for a few hours and open to the public by late afternoon, according to a press statement.
Members of the 100 Club getting all of those free sandwiches must celebrate all morning and will receive their coupon books at 12 noon. So if you have a crazy schedule where you’re off on Wednesday mornings, this is the deal for you.
“It was only a matter of time before we took Primanti Bros. on the road,” said David Head, Primanti Bros. CEO in a release. “We could not be more excited to begin to grow in Michigan with our first restaurant in Taylor. And for those fans willing to join us for our opening tailgate – we’ve got a great day planned.”
A second Detroit-area location, in Novi, will open in early September.
The Primanti Bros. in Taylor will open as a full-service restaurant with a large bar, many televisions and an in-door/outdoor patio.
The chain was founded as a cart in 1933 in Pittsburgh, and now has expanded to 35 locations.
As we’ve talked about before, Detroit has quite a sandwich culture. It will be interesting to see if their sandwich stacks up to any of these.
Primanti Bros. will be located at Southland Center, 23000 Eureka Road, Taylor, Michigan.
