There are always a lot of fun things to do on Belle Isle during the summer, but this weekend there is something special happening at the Scott Fountain.
The inaugural Belle Isle Art Fair will be held on August 6 and 7.
This art fair will have over 100 artists displaying their work. Their work is all forms of artistic expression; painting, drawing, photography, pottery, sculpture, plus much more.
There will be more than just art at the fair. You will be able to grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks, listen to acoustic music, make crafts with the Detroit Institute of Art and Michigan Renaissance Festival.
The event is free to attend, and there will be plenty of parking. Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
You can take a look at the list of artists here, and here is a handy map of where you can find parking for the art fair.
Just a reminder that Belle Isle is now a state park, so you will need to have a recreation passport in order to get on the island. Michigan residents receive a full year of park access to over 120 Michigan parks for $11. Non-residents can buy a one-day pass for $9 or an annual pass for $31. Passes are available at the gate.
